In astrology, certain degrees of some signs described as critical degrees. Some charts might have the same sign on two houses in a row for example the first house cusp of a chart might start at 27° Aries and might end at 10° Gemini, so “Taurus” will be the intercepted sign, it will not rule any of the houses on the chart. As we see here in these house systems, a house doesn’t have to be 29★9’59’’. For example, in commonly used Placidus house system, a person’s ascendant (first house cusp) might begin from 11° Gemini and it might end in 3° Cancer, or the 2nd house cusp might begin from 3° Cancer and might end in 23° Cancer. In Placidus, Regiomontanus, Alcabitius, Koch and many other systems, the houses are not divided equally. In systems like “Whole Sign”, a house cusp is located between 0° and 29★9’59’’, but in other house systems, a house cusp may begin from a different degree other than 0° and it may end on a different degree or a sign.

A horoscope has 12 houses and it is divided into 360°.
